The City of Tshwane has successfully launched the Ga-Rankuwa Zone 14 Electrification Project, bringing electricity to 340 households in the area.
Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Utility Services, Councillor Frans Boshielo, officially launched the project alongside Ward 32 Councillor Floyd Thema and officials from the Energy and Electricity Business Unit (EEBU).
Each of the 340 beneficiary households received a prepaid electricity meter. In addition, four transformers were energised on site to strengthen the local electricity network and support a more reliable power supply for the community.
The project used overhead medium- and low-voltage network infrastructure. This design improves access to electricity while enhancing the stability and resilience of the distribution network.
Speaking at the launch, MMC Boshielo reaffirmed the City’s commitment to expanding electricity access and improving residents’ quality of life through sustainable infrastructure investment.
“This project demonstrates the City of Tshwane’s commitment to ensuring that more households have access to safe, reliable and affordable electricity. Electrification remains a key priority in our efforts to improve service delivery and stimulate socio-economic development in our communities,” said MMC Boshielo.
The Ga-Rankuwa Zone 14 Electrification Project forms part of the City of Tshwane’s broader ongoing programme. The initiative aims to stabilise and strengthen the electricity supply, expand access, and improve network reliability across all regions of the city.
