One suspect was injured and the other escaped after a shootout with the police.

In a statement, the Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) said members were doing patrol duties on Monday when they spotted two male suspects placing bricks on the road at M20 around 23h30 in Hebron.

According to a statement from the TMPD, when the two suspects saw the TMPD vehicle, one of the suspects drew a firearm and shot at the TMPD vehicle and the bullet went through the rear windscreen. The TMPD members reacted swiftly and returned fire injuring the suspect.
