The Tshwane Metro Police drug unit members arrested two suspects male and female in Ga-Rankuwa for dealing with drugs.

Mr Martin Moloto of Ga-Rankuwa SAPS said the officers were responding to a complaint by community members about suspicious activities in a certain residence. Upon arrival, they found the two suspects with 500 zip locks of heroin (Nyaope) and the suspects were arrested for dealing and possession of drugs.

Ms Gracias Malope, a Ga-Rankuwa community member said nyaope has become something usual in the township and she is grateful that SAPS is doing everything they can to apprehend these drug dealers who are murdering society.

“Our young brothers and sisters are drug slaves and every corner is a hotspot for nyaope smokers or merchants, and we are tired of it. This is the reason are unable to walk in peace at night or early in the morning because of these nyaope smokers. I hope the police continue to apprehend them so that our community remains safe,” she said.

Mr Zukisa Lepasa, a street vendor said the nyaope smokers cause their vegetable businesses to suffer.

“They rob us late at night, if it is not us it is our customers. While I applaud the police, I wish that these merchants rot in jail because we are tired of them. They don’t want to hustle, they are parasites who profit from other people’s efforts, and they are dangerous people who can kill if you don’t give them money.

“I hope they can continue to look for others so that our community can be at peace,” he said

A case has been opened and the susp[ects will appear in court on 18 July 2022.
