Gunmen in a silver Polo vehicle opened fire at random last Friday night killing two and injuring seven more people.

Mr Shaun Ligaraba, who was at the tavern said the mode of operation and the absence of a motive means that South Africans are under attack.

“The owner of the Olievenhoutbosch pub said the police and politicians are either lying or trying to prevent sending fear in the country that this is an attack on South Africans.

“Taverns are mostly thought of as places to gather over a shared interest, socialize, and forget about the trouble the country is facing in terms of unemployment, a failing economy, rising food prices, and juvenile delinquency.

Ms Dimakatso Sello, a Police spokesperson, said the police are currently investigating two murder cases and seven attempted murder cases.

Members of the community are urged to report any information about the perpetrators to the Crime Stop Hotline at 08600 10111. “All information received will be treated with confidentiality.
