A bus accident between a bus and a truck that happened in the morning near Bundu Inn near Ga-Garankuwa on the M17 Hornsnek Road killed 15 people and others have been rushed to the George Mukhari Academic Hospital with serious injuries. The bus was from Mothutling via Garankuwa and was en route to Centurion.

Ms Prudence Nange, who was a passenger on the bus and is currently in the hospital said the passengers could see that the bus driver had seen the oncoming truck and the next thing there was a loud sound the bus was on its side on the ground.

“We could see that a lot of people were dead and others injured and there was a lot of screaming from shock,” she said.

Tshwane Metro Police spokesperson, Akani Shongwe, confirmed that 15 people have died, while over 30 others were injured, seven of them in serious condition.

“The M17 Hornsnek road will remain closed until further notice.” He said.

Tsepiso Moragalala of the Ga-Rankuwa community said it is heartbreaking because most of the passengers travel that road on a daily basis. It was really a traumatic experience,” she said.
